A Study of Sedge (Cyperaceae) Dyeing with Natural Indigo Dye

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of the study was to investigate dyeing conditions that are appropriate for sedge fi bers with natural indigo dye as they usually do not absorb water. conditioning is therefore essential in order improve their water and color absorption properties. process included soaking 1, 2, 3, 4, 5% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) ratio solution (a liquor ratio) 50:1 24 hours. conditioned were analysed functional group changes by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy examined using glucose reducing agent instead dithionite (Na2S2O4). Time temperature variations also used identify suitable conditions. ndings revealed a most effective when soaked 20 minutes at 40 °C. dyed strength (K/S) fastness. It can be concluded NaOH level concentration condition dyeing.

Sustainable Dyeing of Denim Using Indigo Dye Recovered with Polyvinylidene Difluoride Ultrafiltration Membranes

Indigo is one of the most consumed dyes in the textile sector, as it is widely used for the dyeing of denim clothes. About 15% of indigo used in the dyeing process is discharged to the wastewater treatment plants or sometimes into rivers, in countries where regulations are not strictly applied. In this work, real effluents that contained indigo dye were treated by means of 4 different ultrafilt...

Comparison of dyeing of polyester fibers with natural dye and bio-mordant

In this study, dyeing of two regenerated polyester fibers, poly-trimethylene terephthalate (PTT) and poly-lactic acid (PLA), with natural dyes were compared with that of poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) fiber. Lac was used as the primary natural colorant while Catechu was chosen as a natural color that can also act as a biomordant. The effects of temperature, initial pH of dye bath and dyeing ...

A Comparative Study on Dyeing of Cotton and Silk Fabric Using Madder as a Natural Dye

Madder is considered the queen of the reds which is one of the oldest used natural dyes. In this study, madder was applied to cotton and silk fabrics by using mordants in various ways to investigate the coloring effects. Alum and copper sulphate were used as mordants not only before and after dyeing process but also during the process. The aqueous extract of the dye was applied on the scoured c...

Dyeing Properties and Color Fabrics Using Natural Dye and Mordant

An ecological approach has been obtained by using natural dyes and mordant for dyeing process. Fabrics dyed using myrobalan extract as natural mordants and green dye. A red color were obtained by using theses mordants. The color of dyed fabrics was investigated in CIELab L, a and b and K/S values. Finally, all dyed fabrics were tested for wash and light fastness properties as per ISO standard t...

Achillea Millefolium, a New Source of Natural Dye for Wool Dyeing

Today, natural colorants are emerging globally due to the fact that they are safer and more environmentally-friendly. Natural dyes have been employed in dyeing Persian carpet piles for many years. In this study, the dried Achillea was used for dyeing wool yarns. The Iranian wool yarn was scoured, mordanted using Cu, Sn, Al salts and then dyed with different amounts of dried Achillea powder. Tag...
